So, welcome to the blog of a virtual assistant. The place where I plan to post about all the tools, tricks and tips used by administration professionals to make the lives of business owners easier.
In the coming weeks and months you can expect to see posts on web building services such as Squarespace and Wix; you’ll see posts on my experiences of starting two separate businesses myself and helping others to start theirs; and you’ll hear my opinions on which social media are best for which purposes. And more ...
I’ll be writing for other administration professionals and for small business owners, entrepreneurs and consultants who may be thinking, What is a virtual assistant anyway? And why would I need one?
So let’s answer those two fundamental questions up front.
A virtual assistant is generally someone working from home who is experienced in business administration. They may have a range of other helpful skills including perhaps customer service, marketing, and social media management. These skills can be applied to a range of business circumstances and needs. Virtual assistants come in all shapes and sizes with different qualifications and specialties. The trick is to work out what you need to outsource for your business and find someone who has the right experience and skills to help you.
My main knowledge base includes business startups (research, processes & operations, implementation), local and online marketing for small business, business documentation and contract administration, and more ...
So why would you consider hiring a virtual assistant?
In short you will be hiring an independent contractor who provides all the services you need with less cost to you. An independent contractor is responsible for purchasing and maintaining their own equipment, for paying their own superannuation, and their own tax. As a business owner you do not need to incur the overheads of office space. THIS IS HUGE! All you will be paying is the hourly rate of the professional that you hire.
If you are a small business owner and need help with invoicing or a consultant struggling to manage your contacts and leads, perhaps consider what a virtual assistant could do for you.
