I’ve been of an entrepreneurial bent for quite some time now and I learn more and more as time goes by, in setting up my own businesses and also in working with others on theirs. Recently I have been doing a bit of a deep dive into marketing strategies for small businesses.
As a small business owner I’m sure you’ve had to prioritise your focus - am I working on my email marketing today, or shipping and fulfilment, or should I update my website, am I swamped with email enquiries to answer, or do I need to manufacture more product, pay purchase orders? The list goes on …
It’s my experience that wanting to own your own business does not necessarily make you an expert at marketing - but that doesn't mean it should come last on the list of priorities. Probably the opposite! It’s no use having a great product or service that only your ten family members know about (speaking from experience haha).
So here are some great resources to get you started on the road to learning more about marketing ideas for a small business. Sign up to their newsletters, read their blogs, download their free ebooks!
Duct Tape Marketing - John Jantsch is an author and speaker, and has developed this great company that now offers services for small businesses and resources online, including a blog and a podcast. Take a look at the blog categories and you’re bound to find something that can help you in your marketing endeavours.
Influence & Co. - Influence & Co. are another marketing agency that offer great resources and advice specifically for your content marketing.
Hubspot - If you weren’t already aware, Hubspot offers CRM software for businesses but in addition, they have a fantastic blog and downloadable resources that I have often made use of. Highly recommended.
And if it all gets too much and you need to outsource an aspect of your small business workload, well, you know who to ask! (Me … ask me!)
