Quick question for you: does everyone already have a Google My Business account and if no, why not?
If you weren’t already aware, Google My Business is how you get your business to show up on Google Maps, in the same way that other businesses do when you’re trying to find services and locations around your hometown, or wherever you may be travelling at the moment. I know that when I am looking for something local to me, whether it be a new physio, a dentist, a music school for my kids, or somewhere to get a pedicure, I google first and foremost, and if the business doesn’t have a decent profile I don’t take them seriously.
It’s also almost like another social account, in that you’re able to post all of your services, updates, promos, and of course all the contact information for your business. Importantly, it is also the place where you can collect reviews for that increasingly important social proof that your business needs.
Google My Business also offers you a free website that is automatically generated, saving you time. You can of course edit it as you see fit.
The other benefit Google My Business offers is easy connection to paid Google Ads, if you were choosing to bump your business in search results. And when you set up, you get $100 credit so that you can run a test ad to become familiar with what Google Ads has to offer.
I have been through all of this for my own business and I can tell you that the free ad credit did bring more eyes to my business, and the added location to post content that I was already creating certainly did no harm.
